South Breakwater light, Aberdeen



Tower: Height: 13 metres, white conical tower mounted on a concrete base at the end of the breakwater

Elevation: 22 metres

Range: 3 red flashes every 8 seconds

The light is operational

Current use: active aid to navigation



Some facts:

The South Breakwater was constructed between 1869 and 1874. It was much larger than the earlier Inner South Breakwater and was made out of concrete. The Breakwater was designed to provide better facilities by sheltering the Navigation Channel from easterly weather.
